What is a pilot watch?
A pilot watch is a specially developed wristwatch that was originally designed for pilots and aviation. It is characterized by high functionality, robustness and clear readability, even under difficult conditions. Typical features of a pilot watch are a precise mechanical movement, a robust case, a clear dial and an easy-to-grip crown.
Our VIIS watches combine historical authenticity with advanced technology and a modern design, complemented by practical functions such as the reading of a second time zone.
In our magazine you will find two exciting articles on the history and overview of pilot watches. Find out why a pilot watch is right for you.
What is a GMT watch?
A GMT watch displays not only your local time but also a second time zone. The additional GMT hand completes one full rotation every 24 hours, allowing you to conveniently track the time in another part of the world. We rely on the premium Miyota 9075 GMT movement, which is known for its precision and reliability. With this high-quality movement, we offer you a true traveller’s GMT watch that lets you keep an eye on multiple time zones with ease.
What makes VIIS watches special?
With every watch, we bring our passion for craftsmanship and design to your wrist. Whether in the cockpit, the office, or on the go – our models combine thoughtful engineering with fine details. To achieve this, we collaborate with renowned manufacturers and use carefully selected, high-quality components and materials.

What does 'mechanical movement' mean?
A mechanical movement is powered by a mainspring and does not require a battery. Here, the energy is stored by winding a spring and gradually released to get the movement running. Mechanical watches are valued for the sophisticated craftsmanship that lies hidden inside. We rely on mechanical watches with self-winding, which use the wearer's wrist movements to wind the spring. In detail, automatic watches have an additional weight in the movement, the so-called winding rotor. This is set in motion by movements and transfers the energy generated to the mainspring, which then becomes increasingly tense and stores the energy as a power reserve. Our watches only use Miyota premium movements from the 9-Series, which have a reliable power reserve of around 42 hours and can also be wound manually using the crown.

What materials do you use for your watches?
Our pilot watches stand for careful craftsmanship and the use of selected materials. We use only components of proven quality to ensure long-lasting durability and reliable performance. For good legibility in the dark, we employ Swiss Super-LumiNova® — a trusted luminous material known for its long-lasting glow. The case is made of durable 316L stainless steel, valued for its corrosion resistance and skin compatibility.
To protect against scratches, we use double-domed sapphire crystal — a particularly hard glass appreciated in the watch industry for its robustness. Inside, a Miyota 9-Series automatic movement is used, recognized for its dependable function. A Parashock shock protection system helps safeguard the movement from mechanical impacts.
The watch is completed with an Italian calf leather strap that is comfortable to wear and carefully crafted.
Are the watches waterproof?
Yes, our watches are water resistant up to 10 ATM (100 meters). 1 ATM is approximately equal to 1 bar or a water pressure of 10 meters. A watch with 10 ATM can therefore withstand a pressure of up to 10 bar, which corresponds to a water depth of about 100 meters. Thanks to this water resistance, the watch is more resistant and you can snorkel, swim or bathe with your watch without it being damaged. To ensure these properties, we use a screw-down crown in our watches, which protects them from water, dust and operating errors. However, we do not recommend using the watch for diving.
How long does the power reserve last?
A Miyota 9-Series movement has a power reserve of about 42 hours, so when the watch is fully wound, it will continue to run for about two days, even if you are not wearing it.
Where are the watches made?
In the Golden City of Pforzheim, Germany, we design, manufacture and inspect each watch with great care and passion. Our models proudly bear the “Made in Germany” label on the dial — a mark of their origin.
Experienced watchmakers carefully assemble every timepiece before it undergoes thorough functional and visual inspections. Through our internal quality controls, we ensure that only watches meeting our defined standards are delivered.

Operation & Care
How do I wind my mechanical watch?
You can wind your VIIS watch either automatically by wearing it or manually. To wind the watch manually, loosen the screw-down crown and turn it clockwise until you feel slight resistance - about 15 to 20 turns should be enough. As soon as the second hand starts to move, the watch is sufficiently wound. Manual winding ensures that the watch runs correctly even if it is not automatically wound by wrist movements.

How can I set the date and time on my watch correctly?
To set the date and time correctly on your VIIS Flieger GMT 42, follow these steps:
- Setting the time: Loosen the screw-down crown and pull it out to the second position. Turn it to set the desired home time. Be sure to observe the 24-hour cycle to distinguish between AM and PM.
- Setting the date: Push the crown into the first position. Turn it until the hour hand indicates the exact local time and the date is set correctly. Do not set the date between 9:00 p.m. and midnight, as the mechanism is already active for the date change.
- Screw the crown back in: After adjusting, screw the crown back into the case to secure the watch.
